Edict lamenting the continued availability of banned books and expressing the new Inquisitor General's desire to improve the situation. Astorga y Cespedes served only a few months in office, and may already have been replaced when this decree was issued. Contains signature at end.

Decree republishing then-Inquisitor General Diego de Arce Reynoso's 1660 edict anulling a constitution of Pope Paul V, on the issue of whether religiou superiors are responsible for denouncing members of their own orders. Contains wax seal.

Edict banning a book entitled, "Dissertacion Historica, que sirve de explicacion a algunos lugares obscuros, que se encuentran en la Historia, Cartas, Alegaciones, y Apologia que ha dado a luz el Cardenal Alberoni."

Particular note is made of Pope Gregory XV's 1622 brief on cases of solicitation in the confessional; such cases fall under inquisitorial jurisdiction. Confirmation of this should be added to annual readings of Edicts of Faith etc. Contains signature.
